From 18th to 20th October, 2019, H.E. Mr. Deng Boqing, Vice-Chairman of CIDCA (China International Development Cooperation Agency), led a delegation to visit Timor-Leste. H.E. Mr. Deng met respectively with H.E. Dr. Dionisio da Costa Babo Soares, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, H.E. Mr. Mricio dos Reis “Akara”, State Secretary of Social Communication, and had a meeting with the officials of Ministry of Finance. Mr. Deng also discussed with the representatives of the Chinese enterprises at the Chinese Enterprise Association in Timor-Leste and inspected the Digital Terrestrial Multimedia Broadcast program in Timor-Leste.
Mr. Deng said that this visit aimed to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries. At present, Timor-Leste is at a critical stage of national development. China is willing to strengthen strategic synergy and cooperation in the field of development cooperation with Timor-Leste, and share development experience and opportunities of China, so as to bring tangible benefits to Timorese, further promote friendship between the two peoples and promote the development of bilateral relations.
The Timorese side warmly welcomed the visit of the Chinese delegation and thanked China for its long-term assistance and support, said that China was an important partner of Timor-Leste, and relations between the two countries had been steadily improved in recent years. The Timorese side was willing to actively participate in the Belt and Road Initiative, further strengthen the strategic synergy between the two countries, deepen cooperation in existing areas and explore new cooperation opportunities.
H.E. Dr. Xiao Jianguo, Ambassador of China to Timor-Leste, accompanied H.E. Mr. Deng to the above meetings and delivered a speech at the Signing Ceremony of the Launch of Chinese TV Programs under the China-aided Project of DTMB in Timor-Leste.
