On the morning of January 25th, 2020, the first day of the Chinese Lunar New Year of the Rat, the Chinese Embassy in Timor-Leste held a solemn flag-rising ceremony. The bright five-star red flag rose slowly and the majestic national anthem sounded through the sky. H.E. Dr. Xiao Jianguo, Ambassador of China to Timor-Leste together with all the staffs of the Chinese Embassy in Timor-Leste wished all the Chinese a happy and prosperous New Year, and wished China prosperity and well-being, and the Chinese people happiness and health!

Ambassador Xiao also exchanged New Year’s greetings with visiting guest including Mr. Foo Hau Kiun, Honorary President of Associação Comercial da Comunidade Chinesa Timor Oan (ACCCTO) and representatives of the overseas Chinese community in Timor-Leste, and enjoyed watching the traditional lion dancing performance. Ambassador Xiao was interviewed by GMN TV and extended New Year’s greetings to overseas Chinese in Timor-Leste.
